Nomination – Jean-Daniel Gasser Appointed Director of the Technology Department at CBT – Concept Bois Technologie SA CBT – Concept Bois Technologie SA, a startup founded in 1998 by Jean-Luc Sandoz, then a professor at EPFL, has established itself as a leader in non-destructive wood testing technologies, combining safety and environmental challenges. Today, this subsidiary is part of a group of 140 employees, with CBT boasting 36 staff members in Saint-Sulpice, including 12 dedicated to technology, alongside a network of 30 partners and distributors active in over 30 countries. The group’s flagship products, SYLVATEST, POLUX, and LUXPOLE, are synonymous with innovation and internationally recognized expertise. We are pleased to announce the appointment of Jean-Daniel Gasser as Director of the Technology Department, effective as of November 2024. A Profile of an Expert with a Strong Background Graduating in Civil Engineering from HEIG-VD in 2000 and holding a postgraduate degree in computer science from HES-SO (University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland) in 2003, Jean-Daniel joined CBT in 2001. Since then, he has played a fundamental role in the creation and development of all the group’s software solutions. Specializing in designing mobile applications for Android, iOS, and UWP, Jean-Daniel has developed tailored tools to meet the specific needs of clients, enabling efficient field data collection and analysis with the group’s measurement instruments. A passionate .NET technology enthusiast and C# programming expert, Jean-Daniel has also created embedded software for the group’s devices, developed control software for the Triomatic, and overseen the implementation of several client web portals. These portals organize and visualize measurement data while automating the generation of inspection reports to meet the diverse and demanding needs of partners. A Driving Force in CBT’s Technological Growth Over the years, Jean-Daniel’s responsibilities have expanded. Today, he manages a multidisciplinary team in Saint-Sulpice (VD) comprising inspectors, an HR and accounting manager, a sales engineer, and a communications officer. Together, they ensure the smooth running of operations on an international scale, with partnerships in over 30 countries. He also supports the team on technical and strategic aspects of their work, ensuring that the group’s tools and technological solutions remain at the forefront of innovation. This appointment, effective as of November 2024, highlights the importance of his contributions and marks a significant milestone for Jean-Daniel and the technological future of CBT.
