Capitaine Marchal Crèche, Paris 20th District
The Capitaine Marchal Crèche is an iconic project where functionality, sustainability, and aesthetics come together to create a warm and practical space dedicated to early childhood care.
Designed to accommodate 48 cradles, this timber-framed structure consists of two buildings surrounding a central courtyard. Set in a dense urban context, the project highlights the use of bio-based materials seamlessly integrated into contemporary architecture.
The crèche's open-plan layout allows views through the entire site, from Marchal Street to the activity room on Étienne Marey Street, enhancing the sense of space and natural light. Outside, the preserved Norway maple tree (Acer platanoide) adds a unique touch of charm to the setting.
A Remarkable Collaboration
We are proud to have contributed to this ambitious project led by the City of Paris.
- Innovative structure: The second floor features O’Portune construction (nearly 200 m²), while the rooftop terrace is built with D-Dalle, our mixed wood-concrete floors (over 70 m²).
- Sustainable joinery: Bildau & Bussmann France crafted 34 exterior joinery elements in larch wood with a clear varnish finish, perfectly matching the larch-clad façades.
- Efficient insulation: Thermal and acoustic insulation is provided by Métisse®, a range made from recycled cotton, offering exceptional acoustic properties thanks to its composition.
